龍山寺。臺北。臺灣。
When Martin and I were selling handmade ceramics at the St Nick’s Christmas Market in Bristol @stnicksmarket , we tried to work and also play a Santa puppet to cheer people up. However, one man became very angry and told me more than three times, “I hate Santa, I hate Christmas.” #bristoluk
Around the same time, my mother was in the emergency room in a hospital in Taipei, Taiwan, fighting for her life. I felt extremely sad.
I am not Christian, but I choose to respect local culture and customs and to celebrate Christmas. I kept thinking about how I can fit into society in Bristol.
I am trying very hard to accept the local culture, but unfortunately, I feel that I may be failing.
Today, I decided to share part of my own culture. One of my favourite temples is Longshan Temple in Taipei, Taiwan.
It is full of positive energy, and the people around the temple are very friendly. Being there makes me feel comfortable and peaceful. I also enjoy looking at the architecture — it is so beautiful.
Especially today, the temperature was 26 degrees; it felt like summer. (And yet I was wearing my big jacket — it was so hot! Haha.) ❤️ #longshamtemple #peaceful @martinharmanart @wenhsiharmanporcelainart #龍山寺

分享英國飯店聖誕節市集
It was our first time joining the Christmas Fayre at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cadbury House @dtcadburyhouse ,and it was lovely to take part in a hotel setting. We tried something new and met many wonderful people. (3rd December 2025. 5-8 pm . Wednesday)
A special thank you to our lovely neighbour, Kayla from Somerset Chilli Garden, for cheering up our night. @somerset_chilli_garden
Even though sales didn’t go very well for us, we kept smiling and kept going. Thank you for this learning opportunity.
We’re working hard to find the right people who will appreciate handmade stoneware and porcelain during these challenging times. @martinharmanart @wenhsiharmanporcelainart #doubletreebyhilton #handmadewithlove❤️ #christmasfayre🎄 #christmasfayre #hoteluk #handmadeceramics #handmadeporcelain #handmadestoneware 🥰❤️
英國聖誕市集擺攤的經驗

謝謝
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take part in the market at the Kingston Seymour Village Hall today from 10:00am to 12:00pm. (6th December 2025 )
I really appreciate this learning experience. However, I felt a bit disappointed that some people seemed to think I was only a trader, not a maker.
Some did not believe that I could create these handmade porcelain Christmas decorations. A few even questioned my age, saying I looked too young, and some also doubted that Martin could make the stoneware tableware.
There were also people who told me I was silly for using the Santa puppet to greet visitors and say “Hello” and “Merry Christmas.” I responded by saying, “Yes, I am silly, but I just want to bring a joyful atmosphere here.”
Today was not an easy day for me at the market. I know I need to keep going and try to find spaces where people appreciate what I do, without judging my national identity. Being an Asian woman and a British citizen at the same time is challenging in the UK. It is a difficult time for me.
Thank you for reading my writing. If anything I said feels offensive, I am sorry — I am sharing my real experience here in the UK.
At the end of the market, one lady bought two of my Christmas decorations (2 for £8), and another lady bought one (£5, because she didn’t have 50p — the original price is £5.50). In total, I earned £13 today.
I hope people can reflect on this: if their daughter or granddaughter were living abroad and people there were unwelcoming, or judged her face and her abilities all the time, would they feel happy about that?
