2026年新年快樂
#新年快樂Happynewyear2026
難得2026年的1月1日,
我在臺北臺灣Taipei, Taiwan.
It has been 17 years since I last spent the first day of the New Year in Taipei, Taiwan, with my family. Being there on the first day of 2026 felt like a very precious gift to me.
Looking back on 2025, I met so many kind people who encouraged me and helped me realise that life has many paths and possibilities. Being yourself is not easy, because it often means being different from most people. I learned to stay away from negative people and to seek out those with strength, kindness, and generosity of spirit.
In 2025, I noticed that someone copied my porcelain work in the UK and Taiwan. I also encountered antisocial behaviour at the Bristol Christmas Market and met some difficult gallery owners. The year often felt out of control. I had two surgeries in Taipei. My mother was hospitalised three times and also had surgery for her pacemaker. I travelled back to my homeland, Taiwan, twice, went to Latvia for an artist residency and symposium, and worked in an artist residency in Istanbul.
From the outside, it may all look glorious, but it was a year of intense pressure and emotional weight. Sometimes I don’t know how I managed to cope. I am grateful that I am still here, still living on this earth, still moving forward, still smiling, as a living artist.
Thank you, 2025 — to those who loved me and those who hated me.
In 2026, I choose to work with people who are kind and supportive, and to collaborate with those who truly love and respect my handmade porcelain work.

土耳其駐村藝術artist-residency
Looking back at my 2025 plans and what I’ve achieved so far. At the beginning of the year, in January, Martin and I were lucky enough to take part in an artist residency in Istanbul, where we spent one month. It was our first time visiting the country, and everything felt new to us.
During the residency, we held a Creative Calligraphy Workshop to celebrate Lunar New Year, sharing our passion for traditional Chinese characters and Taiwanese cultural identity with a local audience. It was heart-warming to see people interested in my homeland’s culture, eager to learn something new, with open minds and kind hearts.
We also tried the traditional Turkish breakfast — it was absolutely delicious. Through watercolour, I recorded my cultural observations of Turkish life. It felt refreshing to step out of my routine and have the freedom to explore another culture. I’m truly grateful for this opportunity.❤️ @wenhsiharmanporcelainart @martinharmanart @arthereistanbul 🤗 #artistresidency #藝術家駐村計畫 #土耳其 #土耳其早餐

龍山寺。臺北。臺灣。
When Martin and I were selling handmade ceramics at the St Nick’s Christmas Market in Bristol @stnicksmarket , we tried to work and also play a Santa puppet to cheer people up. However, one man became very angry and told me more than three times, “I hate Santa, I hate Christmas.” #bristoluk
Around the same time, my mother was in the emergency room in a hospital in Taipei, Taiwan, fighting for her life. I felt extremely sad.
I am not Christian, but I choose to respect local culture and customs and to celebrate Christmas. I kept thinking about how I can fit into society in Bristol.
I am trying very hard to accept the local culture, but unfortunately, I feel that I may be failing.
Today, I decided to share part of my own culture. One of my favourite temples is Longshan Temple in Taipei, Taiwan.
It is full of positive energy, and the people around the temple are very friendly. Being there makes me feel comfortable and peaceful. I also enjoy looking at the architecture — it is so beautiful.
Especially today, the temperature was 26 degrees; it felt like summer. (And yet I was wearing my big jacket — it was so hot! Haha.) ❤️ #longshamtemple #peaceful @martinharmanart @wenhsiharmanporcelainart #龍山寺
