When Martin and I were selling handmade ceramics at the St Nick’s Christmas Market in Bristol @stnicksmarket , we tried to work and also play a Santa puppet to cheer people up. However, one man became very angry and told me more than three times, “I hate Santa, I hate Christmas.” #bristoluk Around the same time, my mother was in the emergency room in a hospital in Taipei, Taiwan, fighting for her life. I felt extremely sad. I am not Christian, but I choose to respect local culture and customs and to celebrate Christmas. I kept thinking about how I can fit into society in Bristol. I am trying very hard to accept the local culture, but unfortunately, I feel that I may be failing. Today, I decided to share part of my own culture. One of my favourite temples is Longshan Temple in Taipei, Taiwan. It is full of positive energy, and the people around the temple are very friendly. Being there makes me feel comfortable and peaceful. I also enjoy looking at the architecture — it is so beautiful. Especially today, the temperature was 26 degrees; it felt like summer.
